Honors Program at St. Norbert College, De Pere, WI

This blog contains direct quotes from websites as of 2023. Programs and policies do change, at colleges, from time to time, so please check with the colleges directly to receive any updates. These are not, necessarily, the biggest, best, or most popular programs at the college, but they are the ones that just “caught my eye” as unique, special, interesting, or just plain awesome. Enjoy!

From the St. Norbert College website, 2023: “A pathway to excellence!. What if you could be part of a cohort of passionate and engaged learners who encourage each other to question, grow and excel? As part of the Honors Program at St. Norbert College, you can! You’ll join other hard-working, intellectually curious students, immersing yourself in the honors living-learning community, attending classes, studying and socializing with other program participants. First-year honors students get to live with other incoming honors students, which helps you forge lasting friendships.

“Why should you join SNC’s Honors Program?

SNC’s Honors Program provides a uniquely challenging — and rewarding — path for students who are eager to distinguish themselves inside and outside the classroom. Some of the signature benefits of our program include:

*Living-learning experience — First-year honors students live and learn at Bergstrom Hall with other students in the program.

*Honors designated courses — Students take smaller, seminar-style courses that emphasize independent, interdisciplinary learning; global awareness and cultural competence and community leadership.

*Student-faculty interaction — Special sections of Core Curriculum courses are reserved exclusively for honors students to offer small enrollments and intensive collaboration with faculty.

*Priority course registration — Starting in their first year, honors students register before others in their class, giving them first pick of courses, meeting times and professors.

*Peer mentorship — First-year honors students meet regularly with upperclassmen/women with similar majors and/or interests.

*Global Seminars — Flexible and affordable two-week, credit-bearing opportunities are available for international study.

*Preparation for post-graduate success — The Honors Program offers special courses designed to prepare students for success in their future endeavors, and supports vocational reflection as a starting point in choosing a post-graduate path.”
